During his college years, and after the college season, Chris served as a volunteer assistant at Shoreham Wading-River from 2003-2007, a period of time when SWR won five county titles, two LI titles and a state championship. Robert has enjoyed playing and coaching lacrosse for over 60 years! He played for Garden City through his youth and in HS, and then for Washington College’s heralded lacrosse program in the early 70s. He coached Stony Brook University’s first-ever men’s lacrosse team, which was at the club level. Later, he coached and helped develop Shoreham-Wading River’s youth lacrosse program - both the boys and girls. His children were captains of SWR’s first boy's state championship (02) and first girl's county championship (04). He remained involved in SWR’s youth lacrosse program for many years, with a particularly strong connection to the boys’ varsity coaches and program. Coach Grandpa began coaching within Three Village Lacrosse a few years ago and now supports multiple teams. He is often seen providing 1:1 instruction, translating his love of lacrosse to younger players, hoping they get as much enjoyment as he does.
